With this scanner you can quickly scan paper items such as letters, forms, photos, and magazine articles and place their electronic images on your computer. With its innovative hinged lid, you can also lay books flat on the scanner to scan pages. WHAT'S IN THE BOX Before starting the installation, check the contents of the box to make sure that all parts are included. If any items are missing or damaged, contact the dealer where you purchased the scanner. Visioneer 7300 USB Scanner Software CD Installation Guide Quick Install Card USB Cable VISIONEER ONETOUCH 7300 USB SCANNER INSTALLATION GUIDE 1 2 VISIONEER ONETOUCH 7300 USB SCANNER INSTALLATION GUIDE THE VISIONEER 7300 USB SCANNER Document cover Glass Reference marks OneTouch button panel Status light OneTouch buttons USB port THE VISIONEER 7300 USB SCANNER 3 Document cover--Protects the document from light and contamination. Glass--Items are placed face down aligned at the reference marks. Reference marks--Marks on the border of the glass show where to align various paper sizes. OneTouch button panel--Allows scanning directly from the scanner. Status light--Shows the scanner's status. Steady green light: scanner is ready to scan. Blinking green light: scanner is busy. USB port--Connects the scanner to the computer. Your Visioneer 7300 scanner can connect to either a USB 1.1 or a USB 2.0 port. Note: The scanner does not have an external power supply. It draws its power directly from the computer through the USB cable. If you use a USB Hub with your computer, the Hub must have its own power supply so the scanner can draw power from it. The scanner also does not have an on/off switch. It is ready to scan as soon as Windows loads on your computer. 4 VISIONEER ONETOUCH 7300 USB SCANNER INSTALLATION GUIDE WHAT YOU NEED An IBM-compatible Pentium PC with: I A CD-ROM drive I I I An available Universal Serial Bus (USB) port; 1.1 or 2.0 Microsoft Windows operating system: 98SE, 2000, ME, or XP Available internal memory (RAM) as follows: I I 64 MB or more 128 MB recommended for Windows XP I 200 MB of free hard disk space A VGA or SVGA Monitor Recommended settings for your monitor are as many colors as possible--High Color (16-bit), True Color (24-bit or 32-bit). Set the resolution to at least 800 by 600 pixels. To set your monitor's colors and resolution, open the Windows Control Panel, double-click Display, and then click the Settings tab. I I STEP 1: INSTALL THE SOFTWARE 5 Installing Installation is a quick, three-step process: I I I Install the software Connect the scanner Check out your scanner STEP 1: INSTALL THE SOFTWARE Note: You must install the PaperPort software before connecting the scanner to the computer. Otherwise the correct software to run your scanner will not be installed and it may not scan properly. To install the software: 1. Start Microsoft Windows and make sure no other applications are running. 2. Insert the installation CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive. The CD automatically starts.
