Installation
· If the handset wll not be used for a long perod of tme, remove the battery to prevent possble leakage. · To purchase replacement batteres, vst our webste at www. vtechphones. com or call 1 (800) 595-9511. In Canada go to www.vtechcanada. com or dal 1 (800) 267-7377.
· Remove battery compartment cover by pressng on the ndentaton and sldng downwards. · Algn the two holes n the plug wth the socket pns accordng to the color-coded label n the battery compartment, then snap the plug nto place. · Place the battery nto the compartment. · Poston the battery compartment cover and slde t upwards untl t clcks nto place. · Put the handset n the telephone base to charge the new battery for at least 16 hours. You can keep the battery charged by returnng the handset to the telephone base after each use. When the battery power s fully depleted, a full recharge takes about 16 hours. For further nformaton on batteres, please see the Battery secton on page 37.

Telephone base installation
Install the telephone base and the charger as shown below. Choose a locaton away from any electronc equpment and applances such as personal computers, computer routers, televson sets, mcrowave ovens and refrgerators. Avod excessve heat, cold, dust or mosture. 1. Plug the telephone lne cord nto a telephone wall jack. 2. Plug power adapter nto an electrcal outlet not controlled by a wall swtch. · Use only the VTech batteres and power adapters (or equvalent) suppled wth ths telephone. In Canada go to www.vtechcanada. com or dal 1 (800) 267-7377. · Ths power unt s ntended to be correctly orented in a vertical or floor mount poston. The prongs are not desgned to hold the plug n place f t s plugged nto a celng, under-thetable or cabnet outlet.

Desk/table bracket installation
To place the telephone base on a desk or table, nsert the desk/table bracket as shown below. · Poston the bracket on the bottom of the telephone base and slde t up towards the tabs on the telephone base untl t clcks nto place. · Remove the bracket by pullng the bracket down wth both hands away from the telephone base.
If you have touch-tone servce, your telephone s ready to use as soon as the battery s charged. If you have pulse (rotary) servce, the dal type must be changed. To change the dal type, refer to the Dial type secton on page 12.

If you subscribe to DSL service
If you receve hgh speed nternet through your telephone lne (commonly referred to as DSL), and you are experencng nterference durng telephone conversatons and/or your caller ID features are not functioning properly, install a DSL filter to the telephone line between the telephone base and the telephone wall jack. Contact your DSL provider for a DSL filter.

A rnger off con wll be dsplayed. · Whle the telephone s rngng, you can temporarly slence the rnger by pressng oFF/CLEar or MUTE. The rnger off con wll be dsplayed. The next call wll rng normally. · The volume of the telephone base rnger s set separately from the handset rnger. See page 28 to set the telephone base rnger volume.
