Telephone base installation
· Use only the power adapter suppled wth ths product. To order a replacement, vst our webste at www.vtechphones. com or call 1 (800) 595-9511. In Canada, go to www.vtechcanada. com or call 1 (800) 267-7377. · The power unt s ntended to be correctly orented n a vertcal or floor mount poston. The prongs are not desgned to hold the plug n place f t s plugged nto a celng or an under-the-table/ cabnet outlet.
Install the telephone base as shown below. Make sure that the electrcal outlet s not controlled by a wall swtch. Also, f you receve hgh speed nternet through your telephone lne (commonly referred to as DSL), you may need to nstall a DSL filter to the telephone line between the telephone base and the telephone wall jack. Contact your DSL service provider for more information about DSL filters.

Battery installation and charging
Install the battery as shown below. The battery may have enough charge for short calls. For best performance, charge the battery for at least 16 hours before use. When the battery power s low, the handset wll beep, BATTERY LOW and wll be dsplayed on the handset screen. When fully the battery low ndcator charged, the handset battery provdes approxmately three and a half hours of talk tme or three and a half days of standby tme. 1. Insert the plug of the battery as ndcated. Make sure t s plugged securely and matches the color-coded label nsde the battery compartment. 2. Place the battery wth the label THIS SIDE UP facng up and the wres nsde the battery compartment. 3. Align the battery compartment cover flat against the battery compartment, then slde t upwards untl t clcks nto place. 4. Charge the handset by placng t n the telephone base and CHARGING... wll be dsplayed on the handset screen. 1 2 3 4

Wall mounting
Your telephone base s ready for desktop use. If you prefer to mount your telephone on the wall (optonal), t s desgned to mount on a standard telephone wall plate. You can mount the telephone base on the wall by postonng t so the mountng studs will fit into the corresponding holes on the telephone base. Slide the telephone base down on the mountng studs untl t locks nto place.

/VOL-/CID · When the telephone s not n use, press to revew the call log. · Press and hold to adjust the rnger volume when n dle mode. · Durng a call, press to decrease the lstenng volume. A double beep wll sound at the lowest settng. · Press to scroll down whle n programmng mode. /FLASH · Press to make or answer a call. · Durng a call, press to receve an ncomng call when you receve a call watng alert. PROG · Press to enter programmng mode whle the telephone s not n use. TONE · Press to swtch to tone dalng temporarly when usng pulse (rotary) servce (page 12). CHAN/DELETE · Swtch to a clearer channel whle on a call. · Press and hold to delete all records n the call log when n dle mode. · When revewng the call log or redal lst, press to delete the dsplayed record. /VOL+/ · Press to dsplay the drectory when the telephone s not n use. · Press and hold to adjust the rnger volume when the telephone s not n use. · Durng a call, press to ncrease the lstenng volume. A double beep wll sound at the hghest settng. · Press to scroll up whle n programmng mode. SELECT · Press to store a programmng opton or a drectory entry. OFF · Durng a call, press to hang up. · Press and hold for two seconds when the telephone s not n use to erase the MISSED CALLS dsplay. · Durng programmng, press to ext wthout makng changes.

Date and time
If you subscrbe to caller ID servce, the date and tme wll be set automatcally wth the next ncomng call. If you do not have caller ID servce, you can set the date and tme manually. 1. Press PROG when the handset s n dle mode. 2. Press or untl DATE/TIME s dsplayed. Press SELECT. 3. When the hour is flashing, press or untl the screen dsplays the correct hour and then press SELECT. 4. When the minute is flashing, press or untl the screen dsplays the correct mnute and then press SELECT. 5. When AM or PM is flashing, press or to choose AM or PM and then press SELECT. 6. When the month is flashing, press or untl the screen dsplays the correct month and then press SELECT. 7. When the date is flashing, press or untl the screen dsplays the correct date and then press SELECT. 8. You will hear a confirmation tone.
· In the event of a power falure, the tme may need to be reset.

· If the rnger volume s set to off, RINGER OFF wll be dsplayed. · Even f the rnger s set to off, the handset wll stll rng when you press FIND HANDSET.
You can select from the dfferent rngers. 1. Press PROG when the handset s n dle mode. 2. Press or untl the screen dsplays RINGER: and the current settng. 3. Press SELECT. The current setting flashes, and you will hear a sample of the rnger. 4. Press or to select RINGER: 1, 2, 3 or 4. You wll hear a sample of each rnger. 5. Press SELECT to confirm your selection. You will hear a confirmation tone.

You can change the rnger volume to a comfortable level or turn the rnger off. 1. Press PROG when the handset s n dle mode. Press or untl the screen dsplays RINGER VOL: and the current settng. -ORPress and hold or untl the screen dsplays RINGER VOL: and the current settng when the handset s n dle mode. 2. Press SELECT. The current setting flashes, and you will hear a sample of the rnger volume. 3. Press or to select rnger volume from OFF, LOW or HI. You wll hear a sample of the selected volume level. 4. Press SELECT to confirm your selection. You will hear a confirmation tone.

Dial mode
If you have touch tone servce, the telephone s ready for use as soon as the battery s charged. If you have pulse (rotary) servce, you wll need to change the dal mode. 1. Press PROG when the handset s n dle mode. 2. Press or untl the screen dsplays DIAL MODE: and the current settng. 3. Press SELECT. The current setting flashes. 4. Press or to select TONE or PULSE. 5. Press SELECT to confirm your selection. You will hear a confirmation tone.
· If, n the future, your phone servce provder requres you to dal the area code when makng a local call, or you want to cancel the home area code you have already programmed, reprogram your home area code to 000.

Home area code
If you dal your local calls usng only seven dgts (no area code requred), program your home area code followng the steps below. By programmng your home area code, caller ID wll dsplay only the phone number wthout area code when you receve calls from callers n your local area. 1. Press PROG when the handset s n dle mode. 2. Press or untl the screen dsplays HOME AREA CODE. 3. Press SELECT. The stored area code is displayed with the first digit flashing. 4. Use the dal key pad to enter the desred home area code. 5. Press SELECT to confirm. You will hear a confirmation tone.
