Choose a central locaton for your telephone base . 2 . Install your telephone base and handset away from electronc equpment, such as personal computers, televson sets and mcrowave ovens . 3 . In locatons where there are multple cordless telephones, separate telephone bases as much as possble . 4 . Install your telephone equpment away from heat sources and sunlght . 5 . Avod excessve mosture, dust or extreme cold . 1 2 Install handset battery · Use only the provded VTech battery, or equvalent . In Canada, go to www .vtechcanada . com or call 1 (800) 267-7377 . a) Algn the two holes n the plug wth the socket pns n the handset battery compartment, matchng the red and black wres to the color-coded label . Snap the plug nto place . Put the battery nto the compartment . b) Place the battery n the compartment wth the wres tucked nsde . c) Replace cover by sldng t up nto place . d) The battery may have enough power for short calls . For best performance, put the handset n the telephone base and charge the battery for at least 16 hours . www.vtechphones.com 3 Installation Wall mounting bracket installation (optonal) Your telephone base comes wth the wall mountng/desktop bracket nstalled, ready for desktop use . If you prefer to mount your telephone on the wall (optonal), t s desgned to mount on a standard telephone wall plate . For wall mountng, follow these nstructons: · Frst, nsert the lower porton tabs of the wall mountng/desktop bracket nto the lower grooves n the telephone base, then snap the upper porton tabs of the bracket nto place . · Mount the telephone base on the wall by positioning it so the mounting studs will fit into the holes on the telephone base and wall mountng/desktop bracket . Slde the telephone base down on the mountng studs untl t locks nto place . · To remove the bracket, press both upper portion tabs firmly inward and pull the bracket downward untl t release from the grooves . upper portion tab lower portion tab lower groove upper grooves Desk/table bracket installation To place your telephone base on a desk or table, nsert the wall mountng/desktop bracket . · Insert the lower porton tabs of the bracket nto the upper grooves of the telephone base . · Snap the upper porton tabs of the bracket nto place . · To remove the bracket, press both upper porton tabs frmly nward and pull the bracket upward untl t s released from the grooves . 4 www.vtechphones.com Getting started Installation If you subscribe to DSL service: If you receve hgh speed nternet servce through your phone lne (commonly referred to as DSL), and you are experencng nterference durng conversatons and/or your caller ID features aren't functonng properly, install a DSL filter to the telephone line between the telephone base and the telephone line jack. Contact your DSL provider to obtain a DSL filter. Even so, ths handset and telephone base can communcate over only a certan dstance - whch can vary wth the locatons of the telephone base and handset, the weather, and the construction of your home or office. If you receive a call while you are out of range, the handset mght not rng or f t does rng, the call mght not connect when you press TALK. Move closer to the telephone base, then press TALK to answer the call . If you move out of range durng a phone conversaton, you mght hear nose or nterference . To mprove recepton, move closer to the telephone base . If you move out of range wthout pressng OFF, your phone wll be left off the hook .
