Failure to follow warnings can result in personal injury or damage to product. Keep this User's Manual in a convenient location for future reference. Proper Positioning of Television Always handle your LCD television with care. The product can be heavy and bulky, requiring the assistance of a second person to move. Avoid touching the LCD screen. Skin oils are difficult to remove. Always position your LCD television on a stable and level surface. Unstable surfaces can cause your LCD to topple and fall, resulting in possible damage or injury. Avoid exposing the LCD display to direct sunlight or high temperatures, which can damage or shorten its useful life. Do not place near heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, or other appliances that generate heat. Avoid exposing the LCD display to rain, water, moisture or high humidity. Do not place your LCD near basins or sinks where it may come in contact with water. Orient your LCD display away from direct sunlight to reduce glare. Never place heavy or sharp objects on the LCD display, video cable, or power cord. Overloading Outlets Do not overload electrical power sources when installing television. Overloading wall outlets, circuits, or extension cords can result in overheating, fire, or electric shock. Use only grounded or polarized outlets. Power Cord Protection Minimize wear on power supply cords. Power supply cords should be routed away from foot traffic and contact with other objects. Do not route power cord under rugs or carpeting. The cord should never be severely bent, pinched, or twisted. Periodically inspect power cords for wear or damage, particularly near plug and the point where it exits from the product. Unplug cord and discontinue use if damage is discovered. Ventilation Slots and openings on the cabinet are provided for ventilation purposes. To ensure reliable operation of the product and to protect it from overheating, these openings must not be blocked or covered. Keep LCD a minimum of four (4) inches away from any wall to assure sufficient airflow and ventilation. Increased temperatures may cause fire or device failure. 2 To assure proper ventilation, do not block the openings by placing the product on a bed, sofa, rug or other similar surface. Do not place the product in a built-in installation, such as a bookcase or an enclosed rack, unless proper ventilation is provided. Other Notices and Precautions Caution: Never remove the rear cover. There are no user serviceable parts inside. Your LCD display contains high-voltage parts. You may be seriously injured if you touch them. Do not attempt repairs yourself. Your warranty does not cover repairs or attempted repairs by anyone not authorized by the manufacturer. Refer all servicing and repairs to qualified service personnel. If smoke, abnormal noise, or strange odor is present, immediately unplug the power cord. Contact a qualified service technician If your LCD display will not be used for extended periods of time, unplug the power cord and remove the batteries from the remote control. 3 Antenna Installation Safety Outdoor Antenna Grounding If an outside antenna or cable system is connected to the product, be sure the antenna or cable system is grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage surges and built-up static charges. Article 810 of the National Electrical Code, ANS/NFPA 70, provides information with regard to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode. Lightning For added protection for this product during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system. This will prevent damage to the product due to lightning and power-line surges. Do not disconnect the antenna or the power cord during a heavy storm ­ lightning may strike while you are holding the cable cord, causing serious injury. Turn off your LCD display and wait for the weather to improve. Power Lines An outside antenna system should not be located in the vicinity of overhead power lines or other electric light or power circuits. When installing an outside antenna system, extreme care should be taken to keep from touching such power lines or circuits as contact with them may be fatal. Cleaning the LCD Display · · MAKE SURE THE LCD DISPLAY IS TURNED OFF NEVER SPRAY OR POUR LIQUID DIRECTLY ONTO THE SCREEN OR CASE To clean the screen: 1. Wipe the screen with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth. This removes dust and other particles. 2. If still not clean, apply a small amount of non-ammonia, non-alcohol based glass cleaner onto a clean, soft, lint-free cloth, and wipe the screen. To clean the case: 1. Use a soft, dry cloth. 2. If still not clean, apply a small amount of non-ammonia, non-alcohol based, mild non-abrasive detergent onto a clean, soft, lint-free cloth, then wipe the surface. Disclaimer Manufacturer does not recommend the use of any ammonia or alcohol-based cleaners on the LCD display screen or case. Some chemical cleaners have been reported to damage the screen and/or LCD display case. Manufacturer will not be liable for damage resulting from use of any ammonia or alcohol-based cleaners. 4 Safety Guidelines Warning: This device must be operated with the original power supply, part number: ADP-60CF A. CAUTION: The socket-outlet should be installed near the equipment and should be easily accessible. CAUTION: Use a power cable that is properly grounded. Electric Appliance Control Act IMPORTANT NOTICE CONCERNING POWER CORD SELECTION The power cord set for this unit has been enclosed and has been selected according to the country of destination and must be used to prevent electric shock. Use the following guidelines if it is necessary to replace the original cord set, or if the cord set is not enclosed. Insert Remote Control Batteries · · · Remove the battery cover. Insert the batteries, paying careful attention to match the corresponding (+) and (_) markings on the battery compartment. Re-attach the battery cover. CAUTION · Only use the specified AAA batteries. · Do not mix new and old batteries. This may result in cracking or leakage, which may pose a fire risk or lead to personal injury. · Insert batteries according to (+) and (_) markings. Attach Base Stand to LCD TV Attach the Base Stand to the LCD TV stand neck. Align the holes and tabs, press in and snap into place. 7 3. Connect Antenna, Cable, Video, S-Video, and/or YPbPr Cables Connect video and audio cables from compatible devices to the back panel of the LCD TV. VGA Audio In Out 8 4. Connect power cables Connect the DC power adapter cord to the LCD TV and then connect the female AC power cord to the adapter. Plug the AC power cord into a properly grounded AC outlet. DC Power Plug Input 5. Turn Power On Press the power button on the front of the LCD TV display or on the remote control. LED light will turn blue if signal input is detected, orange if no signal. Power Button 9 6. Programming TV Channels 1. Select TV as the input using the TV button on the remote. 2. Push Menu button and bring up OSD Display Menu. 3. Move using the _/_ arrow keys to select the TV Tuner Menu. 4. Using the _/_ arrow keys or the MENU key, step down into the menu and highlight the Auto scan function. Push _ arrow key and Channel Scan will commence. 5. Once completed, switch channels by using the CH _/_ arrow keys on the remote. Using the _/_ arrow keys will change the channel that is displayed on the CH edit area. 6. To ADD/DEL channels step down into the CH edit function to select channel to be added or deleted. 7. Step down to the Status function and using the _/_ arrow keys select Off or On depending on whether you want to delete or add the channel. 8. Adjust VOL + or VOL - to preference. 9. Pin Code is also set here. 14.BACK Exits from the current OSD menu back-up one level. 15.AV1 - CVBS Push to select composite video source 16.S-VIDEO Push to select S-Video source 17.YPbPr Push to select component video source 12 Input/ The input and PC display mode allows the user to select the source by depressing the input button and cycling through each source, selecting menu on the remote will select the source. Display Modes Pressing the Input/ button on the control keys for more than 2 seconds will result in placing the LCD TV into a unique display mode. There are 3 modes that the user can select. Economy, Text and Picture. To toggle between these modes press the Turbo key again until the mode you desire is selected. These modes automatically change the backlighting levels between bright, brighter and brightest. Auto Pressing the AUTO button on the control keys while in analog PC mode will adjust automatically the picture and synch the LCD TV monitor. 13 OSD Functions This section describes each on-screen display (OSD) command. There are different OSD menus depending on whether you are in TV mode or Analog PC mode. All the function settings for your LCD TV display are controlled either via the remote control or using the control keys located on the bottom right of the front panel. To display the OSD main menu, press the Menu button on the control keys or the MENU key on the remote control. Use either the Menu key or the _/_ arrow keys to navigate within the menus. The _/_ arrow keys are used to change the values of the functions that are selected in the OSD menu. The BACK key on the remote control or Exit button on the control keys allows you to exit out of the OSD menus and functions. The OSD menu display will disappear automatically after 10 seconds, if no action is taken. To adjust the time the OSD menu displays go to the following OSD Menu: Main TV Menu Enter OSD Menus by pressing MENU key Function Name Brightness Contrast Color Hue Sharpness Recall Brightness adjustment Contrast adjustment Adjust the Color Levels Adjust the Video Hue level Adjust the Video Sharpness Reset to default settings Explanation 14 Audio Adjustment Menu Selecting this menu and using the _/_ arrow keys will change the values of the functions that are selected in the OSD menu. OSD Language Menu Selecting this menu and using the _/_ arrow keys will change the language displayed and used for the OSD menus. There are 9 OSD menu languages available. 15 TV Channel Scanning Menu Selection of this menu provides for the scanning of the antenna input source in order to tune in channels. Using the _/_ arrow keys will toggle between the yes and no selections. To add/delete a channel move to the Status selection and toggle between off and on. OSD Menu Selecting this menu allows for the control of the OSD menus. Using the _/_ arrow keys will change the values of the each function in the menu. 16 Function Name Black Level OSD Time-out OSD Position Explanation Sets the backlight level of the LCD TV ­ Default value is 50 Sets the time in seconds that the OSD menu is displayed. Default value is 10 seconds. Range from 0 ­ 60 seconds. Sets the position of the OSD menus on the display. Default is 1 which is upper left corner. Antenna/CATV Input Menu Selecting this menu chooses the source when tuning the TV. The selections available are between Air which will tune between channels 2-69 and a cable TV source which will tune between channels 1-125. For different cable systems the choices are between STD, IRC or HRC. Default setting for the LCD TV is set to STD. 17 V-Chip and Parental Control Menu To access the PARENTAL CONTROL menu press the V-Chip button located on the remote control. Enter the Pin Code (default is 0000). To change the Pin Code select the following menu. Pin Code default is 0000. 18 MOVIE Rating Menu Set the Movie Ratings to block selected Movie channels. When depressing the PIP button on the remote control the following menu appears. Pressing the PIP button again will toggle the PIP function on/off. Use either the Menu key or the _/_ arrow keys to navigate within the menus. The BACK key on the remote control or Exit button on the control key will allow you to back out of the OSD menus. Using the Right Arrow Key moves to the following OSD Menu. Select the PIP size between S ­ Small and L ­ Large (default). The default position for PIP Pos is set to the lower right corner of the LCD TV display. 20 Using the Right Arrow Key move to the following OSD Menu. Select the Audio source. Choose between Analog source Line in or PIP audio source. Which could be the TV, AV1, SVideo or YPbPr audio source. Selecting this Menu provides the ability to choose preset display levels and customize user RGB levels. 22 PC OSD Menu Language Selection Menus Choose from 9 different languages. OSD Time-out, Default positioning. Auto Setting Off/On and Recall feature. Similar to TV mode functions. OSD Selection of the Input Source between Analog, AV1, S-Video, YPbPr and TV. 23 Input Source not found or Out of Range If there is no source connected to the Input selected.
