GB Location The appliance should be installed well away from sources of heat such as radiators, boilers, direct sunlight etc. Best performance is obtained with ambient temperature between +18°C and +43°C (class T); +18°C and +38°C (class ST); +16°C and +32°C (class N); +10°C and +32°C (class SN). The class of your appliance is shown on its rating plate. Make sure that there is nothing at the back, at the top and at the bottom of the appliance to obstruct air circulation. For more efficient operation of the appliance the minimum distance between the top of the appliance and other overhanging kitchen furniture, if any, should be at least 100 mm (Fig. 1-A). The best solution is shown in Fig. 1-B (without overhanging kitchen furniture). The appliance sides may also be in contact with the kitchen furniture, provided that air can circulate freely round the back and top. This appliance complies with EEC directive number 87/308 of 2/6/87 relative to radio interference suppression. This appliance complies with the following E.E.C. Directives: - 73/23 EEC of 19.2.73 (Low Voltage Directive) and subsequent modifications; - 89/336 EEC of 3.5.89 (Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive) and subsequent modifications. Cleaning the interior Before using the appliance for the first time, wash the interior and all internal accessories with lukewarm water and some neutral soap so as to remove the typical smell of a brand-new product, then dry thoroughly. Do not use detergents or abrasive powders, as these will damage the finish. 17 Door reversal directions Before starting work, unplug the appliance. To reverse the opening direction of the door proceed as follows: Remove the lower hinge (3), the pin (1), the washer (4) and the screw (2); slide the door out from the pin (5), remove the pin and place it on the opposite side; unscrew the foot front left and place it on the opposite side; D548 Fig. 3 5 unscrew the two screws which mask the holes for fixing the hinge on the front left side; reassemble the door; refit the lower hinge (turning it 180°), the washer, the pin and the screw on the opposite side, as shown in the figure. remove the handle, after having removed the screw cover and refit it on the opposite side. The holes that are not used must be masked with the plastic plugs removed. D299 Fig. 3a 1 3 2 18 0° 2 Attention After completion of the door reversibility operation, check that the door gasket adheres to the cabinet. If the ambient temperature is cold (i.e. in Winter), the gasket may not fit perfectly to the cabinet. In that case, wait for the natural fitting of the gasket or accelerate this process by heating up the part involved with a normal hairdrier. Fig. 3b D162 Fitting the door panel (for models equipped with door frame) To fit the door panel, proceed as follows: remove the fixing screws and remove the frame side opposite the handle; loosen, without removing them, all remaining screws fixing the door frame; insert the panel from the side on which the frame has been removed and push it fully in; refit the frame side and tighten all the screws. Note The panel size should be 1-2 mm smaller than the door; the maximum permissible panel thickness is 4 mm. 18 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION The technical data is indicated in the rating plate on the left side inside the appliance. GB Electrical connection Before plugging in, ensure that the voltage and frequency shown on the serial number plate correspond to your domestic power supply. Voltage can vary by ±6% of the rated voltage. For operation with different voltages, a suitably sized auto-transformer must be used. 19 USE Start-up - Temperature regulation After plugging in the appliance, turn the thermostat knob, located at the top right of the fridge, clockwise to the required position (beyond position «O» - off). A medium setting is recommended. Temperature is kept constant automatically and can be increased by turning the knob to lower numbers, or reduced by turning it to higher numbers. Proper setting is achieved by bearing in mind that the temperature inside the fridge depends on the following factors: room temperature; number of times the door is opened; amount of food stored; location of the appliance. To turn the appliance off, set the thermostat knob to «O». At the lowest temperature setting, when the appliance is full and room temperature is high, the compressor may operate continuously and frost forms on the evaporator of the frezeer compartment. In this case, turn the knob to a less cold setting so that the evaporator can be automatically defrosted with a lower power consumption. GB Food refrigeration To achieve the best results with the refrigerator compartment, you should follow one or two very simple rules: Do not put warm foods or evaporating liquids in the refrigerator. Cover or wrap foods (particularly if they have a strong smell). Do not cover the shelves (grids) with paper or plastic since this blocks circulation of air in the compartment. Hints for correct use Raw meat: wrap in polythene bags and place on top of the salad crisper and, for safety, only store in this way for one or two days at the most. Cooked foods, cold dishes, etc.: these should be covered and stored on the fridge shelves. Fruit & vegetables: these should be thoroughly cleaned and placed in the bottom salad crisper. Butter & cheese: these should be placed in special airtight containers or wrapped in aluminium foil or polythene bags to exclude as much air as possible. Milk bottles: these should have a cap and should be stored in the bottle rack on the door. 20 Movable wire shelves The walls of the refrigerator are equipped with a series of runners so that the shelves can be positioned as desired. Fig. 4 D040 Positioning the door shelves To permit storage of food packages of various sizes, the door shelves can be adjusted in height. To make these adjustments proceed as follows: Gradually pull the shelf in the direction of the arrows until it comes free, then reposition as required (Fig. 56). Fig. 5 D064 For more thorough cleaning, the top door shelf can be removed by pulling it in the direction of the arrows, then refitting it in position (Fig. 6).
